Did God Allow Noah To Eat Meat?

The passage of Genesis 9:2-4 was the subject of great debate and controversy. After years of study and research and virtually leaving no stone unturned on the subject, to date I have not read a commentary on the passage which is worthy of a serious consideration. Generally it is argued that here we have the first biblical passage where God explicitly told Noah that he may kill any animal he wanted to in order to eat its flesh. Even vegetarians who abhor meat eating and who practice vegetarianism on ethical grounds admit that here we are faced with a biblical text which clearly sanctions the killing of animals and eating of their flesh. All they can say is that due to the fallen and corrupt nature of humanity God gave a “concession” concerning meat diet but it was not His ideal as in Genesis 1:30 where God ideally prescribed a completely vegetarian diet. But nothing can be further from the truth.

Did Jesus Eat Fish?

 There is only one passage in the whole of the New Testament where it is explicitly and specifically said that Jesus actually ate meat. If this text is true and genuine and in fact inspired by the Holy Spirit, then it would follow that Jesus was not and could not have been a vegetarian. But if on the other hand it can be satisfactorily demonstrated that this passage in Luke 24 is actually a forgery, then it follows that Jesus must have been a vegetarian, since a lying hand felt a need to insert a lying passage in order to portray Jesus as a carnivorous being.

Why do vast majority of churches baptize in the trine name - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit? The answer seems to be obvious: Jesus commanded such a baptismal formula in Matthew 28:19. But did he really? You may also point to 1 John 5:7 where in the King James Bible we are told that the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit are one and thus we should baptize in the trine name. But if this is the correct baptismal formula, why the apostles did not use such a formula?

The first thing I want to point out is the fact - an absolute fact - that the verse of 1 John 5:7 is a forgery by a lying scribe. This verse did not exist in any manuscript or the bible prior to the 15th century. This verse is omitted by practically every English version of the bible, but the King James Version. The Church Fathers have never referred to this verse even when they argued the doctrine of the Trinity, simply because in their time no biblical manuscript contained this verse. The Emphatic Diaglott omits this verse and on page 803 explains why:

“The received text reads, For there are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth. This text concerning the heavenly witnesses is not contained in any Greek manuscript which was written earlier than the 15th century. It is not cited by any of the Greek ecclesiastical writers; nor by any of the early Latin fathers, even when the subjects upon which they treat would naturally have led them to appeal to its authority. It is therefore evidently spurious.”

Adam Clarke, himself a trinitarian states in his Clarke’s Commentary, Vol. 6, p. 923 in regards to 1 John 5:7 the following:

“...this verse is not genuine. It is wanting in every MS [manuscript], in this epistle written before the invention of printing [15th century]...It is wanting in both the Syriac, all the Arabic, Ethiopic, the Coptic, Sahidic, Armenian, Slavonian, etc. In a word, in all the ancient versions but the Vulgate [official version of the Romish Church]; and even of this version many of the most ancient and correct MSS have it not.”

Do you realize what this means? People who lived prior to the fifteenth century simply knew nothing of 1 John 5:7 in the form of a later version. They never referred to it because they could not refer to something that was not in existence. St. Gregory urged the Roman hierarchy to delete this text since "God does not need our lies" - he said. However, his church most certainly does and consequently on January 13, 1897 Pope Leo XIII forbade anyone to question the authenticity of this text.

Despite the fact that this text is a wicked forgery, many Christians still use it in order to prove their erroneous  teaching on Trinity.  Moreover, they sternly condemn those who reject this text as scribal interpolation. Even some bible scholars retain this verse in their translations even though they frankly admit it to be a forgery. J.P. Green retains this verse in his Interlinear Bible, yet in the preface he plainly states that he does not regard this text as true scripture.

But what of Matthew 28:19?  On the basis of this text many Christians baptize their converts in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Reinach says:

“If these two verses [1 John 5:7 and Matthew 28:19] were authentic, they would be an affirmation of the doctrine of the Trinity, at the time when the gospels, and Acts and St. Paul ignore it. It was first pointed out in 1516 that these verses were an interpolation, for they do not appear in the best manuscripts down to the fifteenth century.”

The Encyclopedia Britannica, 1911 edition, under Baptismal Formula, p. 365, states:

“The Trinitarian formula and trine immersion were not uniformly used from the beginning, nor did they always go together.”

The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, Vol. 4, p. 2637, under Baptism says:

“Matthew 28:19 in particular only canonizes a later ecclesiastical situation, that its universalism is contrary to the facts of early Christian history, and its trinitarian formula foreign to the mouth of Jesus.”

New Revised Standard Version notes on Matthew 28:19 the following:

“Modern critics claim this formula is falsely ascribed to Jesus and that it represents later church tradition, for nowhere in the book of Acts is baptism performed with the name of the Trinity.”

Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge, on p. 435 states:

“Jesus, however, cannot have given His disciples this Trinitarian order of baptism after His resurrection: for the New Testament knows only baptism in the name of Jesus, which still occurs even in the second and third centuries...the formal authenticity of Matt. 28:19 must be disputed.”

The Catholic Encyclopedia, Vol. II, on page 263 says:

"The baptismal formula was changed from the name of Jesus Christ to the words Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by the Catholic Church in the second century."

And, finally, the verses 18-20 in the Hebrew Gospel of Matthew, translated by George Howard read as follows:

"Jesus drew near to them and said to them: To me has been given all power in heaven and earth. Go and teach them to carry out all the things which I have commanded you forever."

The trine baptism formula is missing. The formula is missing even in the quote of the fourth century church historian Eusebius. For he thus quotes Matthew 20:19:

"Go and make disciples of all the nations in My Name, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you."

How are the disciples made and admitted into the fold of Jesus? By baptism, of course. And in whose name did Jesus say to make the disciples? In his name, of course. Therefore it is no wonder that apostles baptized in the name of Jesus only as is evident from the following passages:

Acts 2:38:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" {KJV}.

Acts 8:16:

"...they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus" {KJV}.

Acts 10:47-48:

 "And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord {KJV}.

It is necessary to point out that practically only the King James Bible states "in the name of the Lord" while basically every other English translations state "in the name of Jesus Christ."

Acts 19:5:

"When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus" {KJV}.

Galatians 3:27:

"For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ" {KJV}.

Water in baptism represents the grave and the plunging in the water, the death of old self. As Jesus died so do we in baptism. As Jesus rose from the dead to a new life, so do we.

Please note Romans 6:3-4:

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life" {KJV}.

Furthermore, whenever the apostles performed any miracle they did so in the name of Jesus and not the trine name - Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

In Colossians 3:17 we read:

"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him" {KJV}.

If whatever we do we should do in the name of Jesus, then this most surely applies to baptism as well. Those who baptize in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit must believe that the Father and the Holy Spirit also died and were raised from the dead. Paul said that those who were baptized into Jesus, were baptized into his death. The Father and the Holy Spirit did not die and therefore baptism which symbolizes death and resurrection cannot be performed in their name but rather only in the name of Jesus who died and was raised and with whom we die and shall be made alive.

The baptism or submersion pictures burial while the ascension out of the water symbolizes the resurrection. Paul himself was aware of this fact. In Colossians 2:12 he wrote:

“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also you are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”

Neither sprinkling nor pouring could possibly represent the burial and resurrection - therefore christening is the false mode of baptism. Only when one is plunged into the water, he or she is literally in a watery grave. A person submerged under water would not live unless brought up out of the watery grave - unless risen from the water. Therefore when one is immersed into water, he or she is symbolically buried. The Father and the Holy Spirit did not die and therefore we cannot be baptized in their name since we cannot die with them.

The baptism pictures the death, burial and the resurrection of Jesus and it also pictures the same of all of us who are baptized in his name. Through repentance we crucify our old selves and the old man of sin. After mortifying the old self of sin we are then buried in the waters of baptism. When we re-appear from the watery grave we are newborn babies - dead to the world and its principles. The Holy Spirit is then given to take hold of the newborn children of God, to teach, guide, spiritually nourish and protect the children until they reach maturity and are ready to be united with the Infinite One through all eternity. The trine baptismal formula is therefore blasphemous since it symbolically represents the death and burial of the Father and the Holy Spirit. This formula has neither Jesus' nor the apostolic approval.

Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 10:2 that the Israelites were baptized in the sea and cloud. They were not baptized in the name of the Father and the Holy Spirit but rather "into Moses." In 1 Corinthians 12:2 Paul said that we are all baptized by one spirit into one body. But the one who baptizes with the spirit is Jesus. John the Baptist said that it was Jesus who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.

With Jesus we have died and through him we shall live. In John 6:40 he said that it is he who will raise the believer from the dead:

"...and I will raise him up on the last day].

Jesus said that the dead will hear his voice and will come out of their graves. He said that even the judgement the Father has entrusted to him. He will judge the world on the last day and not the Father or the Holy Spirit [John 5:21-29].  

Paul stated:

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad" [2 Corinthians 5:10].

Jesus said in Matthew 25:31-33 the following:

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.  Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.  And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left."

Jesus alone was crucified and died. Jesus alone was baptized and not God the Father or the Holy Spirit. Jesus was resurrected. With Jesus we have died and with him we are raised and therefore baptism should be in his name, as the apostles have given us an example.
